One Time, It Took Me 4 Months To Get A $19.50/hr Job
And I haven’t even started orientation yet
We all like to think that on some level, society generally functions well. But to be honest with you, it doesn’t. It’s actually incredibly slow. And it’s one of the most poorly constructed, frustrating things to ever exist.
The monumental effort that it requires just to get to one place from another is one thing — pilot a 2-ton death machine at 45 miles an hour, remember to fill out its fuel tank, pay attention to road obstacles and try your damndest not to hit anyone who remotely resembles a human being while ensuring that you are in the right condition to pilot this thing — but then, you have to factor in the whole “society” part of it, which is probably one of the most convoluted ideas to ever come to fruition.
I get it, we didn’t create it to be this way.
In a sense, the society we have today just kind of… ended up like this. There wasn’t a board meeting where a group of politicians sat around and thought about ways to make society as complicated and frustrating as possible to navigate. Hell, it could be argued that in many ways, these same people felt like they were going to make things easier.
